Visitax is a tourist tax applicable to foreign tourists entering Quintana Roo. During the year 2020, the State of Congress introduced the Visitax tourist tax required of all foreign persons entering the state of Quintana Roo and its tourist sites. Also, this tax is applicable to travellers over 4 years old who come to Quintana Roo for leisure or business. However, if you are visiting Quintana Roo for educational or health reasons, you will not have to pay the tourist tax.
How to pay the tax
To make the payment, you have three steps to follow. Just go to the Visitax portal and fill in the form with your name, age, passport number and e-mail address. Then pay your tourist tax on a secure page with your credit card or PayPal account. Finally, you will receive the confirmation of the payment with the QR Code on your e-mail address. But it is important to know that it is not enough to get the payment confirmation only from your email address. It is necessary that the traveller has a hard copy of the confirmation with him as well as the travel documents. You are probably wondering if this is necessary. Of course it is. Be aware that before you board your return flight and pass through security, you will need to provide proof of payment for each passenger.
